Culture
Everybody knows by reputation some of Memphis's most famous locations like Graceland and Beale Street, but actually visiting them is a totally different experience. Walk the same streets and hallways, hear the sounds and see the same storefronts that Elvis and B.B. King once did. Take a break and sit back in the Blues City Cafe where new styles and sounds have grown out of the city's long love of music. While events take place throughout the year, the annual festival called Memphis in May is one of the best times to explore the culture, music, food and fun of this thrilling city.

History
For a more historical look at Memphis's musical heritage, visit some of the museums that focus on its blues, soul and rock 'n' roll culture. Some of the best among these are the Stax Museum of American Soul Music and the Memphis Rock 'n' Soul Museum. While music history is Memphis' biggest draw, the city has a past that stretches far beyond pop culture relevance. Get a glimpse at the whole of the city's history at the Pink Palace Museum. Take a deeper look at the trade that made the city an economic success at The Cotton Museum at the Memphis Cotton Exchange or see the nation's struggle with human liberties at the National Civil Rights Museum.
