Dedicated to preserving the impact and legacy of music in this Southern city, the Memphis Rock 'n' Soul Museum highlights not only the music created and inspired by the region but also its influence on contemporary culture. Seven exhibit areas focus on themes like the rural culture of the 1930s, soul music and social changes. Visitors can use the self-guided audio tour to explore different exhibits on their own time frame, and the museum features memorabilia from famous musicians including Elvis Presley and B.B. King. The Smithsonian affiliate museum is located in the FedExForum complex, near the Gibson Beale Street Showcase and Memphis' Hard Rock Cafe.
